2 Flute Solid Carbide Ball Nose End Mill for Steel – Extra Length – up to 55HRC
The Stiger extra length 2 flute ball nose end mill is a solid carbide long-reach cutter for 3D machining in deep features. It is rated for steel up to 55HRC, so it handles carbon steels, alloy steels, tool steels and pre-hardened materials. The extended shank gets the ball end into deep mould cavities, pockets and behind walls. You don’t need tool extensions, and you avoid holder collisions with the workpiece.
The full-radius ball end produces smooth, accurate curved surfaces at depth. Two flutes leave generous chip space for clean evacuation out of deep features. Each size keeps the same cutting length as its standard counterpart, with the extra length on the shank. That puts the cutting edges where you need them without unnecessary flute length weakening the tool.
Features
- Extended reach – overall lengths up to 150 mm for deep cavities, pockets and mould details
- Machines steels up to 55HRC – from mild steel to pre-hardened and heat-treated material
- Solid carbide construction – carbide’s stiffness keeps deflection down at long overhangs
- Full ball nose radius (R = D ÷ 2) – smooth blending on curved and sculptured surfaces
- 2 flute geometry – large chip space for efficient chip evacuation from deep features
- 9 sizes – R1 to R6 (Ø2 mm to Ø12 mm), in 75, 100 and 150 mm overall lengths
- Plain cylindrical shank – suits collet, shrink-fit and hydraulic holders
Applications
Deep mould cavities, die-sinking, deep pockets and ribs, 3D surfacing in hard-to-reach areas and finishing near tall walls or fixtures.
Machining tip: reduce feed and depth of cut as overhang increases, and use the shortest tool that reaches the job. For maximum rigidity, see our standard length 2 flute ball nose end mills.
